The Gladius was another term for Spanish Sword, but was widely used in the Roman Republic, which was part of the ancient Roman civilization. This is known today as the short sword. This weapon was typically 24 inches long. Roman legionnaires went to battle with this weapon around 300 BC. This weapon is very popular and highly required after by collectors and people who do Sword reenactment.The Romans, however, that really advanced swordplay to an art.
